Located within a steep old growth cedar forest, this vacation home mimics the sequence of the original trail taken down the slope from the road to the beach. A series of swich-backs: the approaching country road, the pathway, the internal stairs, deck and trail create an elongated and sectional experience of the landscape. The house is thought of as only one part in the sequence. Both materially and volumetrically, the house aims to be subdued in its organization and accentuate the scale and variation in the surrounding rainforest.
