Bella vista
Vancouver | Proposal 2004
On the site of a former villa surrounded by vineyards, a modern translation of two residences was conceptualized. The scale of the new buildings was limited by the dimensions of the former villa, leaving only a small volume in which to position the two houses. Orientation towards the view and the demarcation of private, exterior space were primary determinants of building form. Taking advantage of their proximity as close neighbours, the two residences share a geothermal energy resource, as well as a sauna and the preserved wine cellar of the former villa. The exterior wood-lattice screens and the earth-toned colour concept help to integrate the buildings into the vineyard scape
